Dispute Resolution Services PDF Print E-mail

We accept .tz domain name registrations on a 'first-come, first-served basis'. Based on the stipulated rules for domain registration we do expect a problem-free registration system. However, disputes in domain names do occasionally arise due to rights (trade mark) in using the names. For most people the court system is too expensive and difficult, so we provide the dispute resolution services using independent appointed experts for a fair and quick way of dealing with these disputes.

The Dispute Resolution Service is part of the contract of registration for .tz domain names and is based on a set of binding rules. The rules which explain the principles of the system are called the "Policy". The Policy requires complainants to prove that they have "rights in respect of a name or mark which is identical or similar to the domain name".

  • We act as a neutral body (facilitator) helping the parties to find a solution using the Dispute Resolution System that involves independent experts appointed by the Policy Advisory Committee (PAC). The panelist for a specific dispute are selected by the complainant and the respondent.
  • We pay the experts the whole fee paid to us excluding the administrative charges. We do not make any money from running the DRS.
